AMITAVA SAHA

Along with being the Co-Founder and CEO of Xpressbees, Amitava Saha is also the Co-Founder of FirstCry.com. He graduated with a PGDM from IIM Lucknow after studying Btech at IIT Varanasi. Amitava worked as a senior officer at Tata Steel, a senior business development executive at NIIT Technologies, and a business development manager at Aricent before co-founding Xpressbees with Supam. He then began working for Brainvisa Technologies, where he held the positions of director and vice president until being elevated to senior vice president. After finding FirstCry, where he served as co-founder and COO, Amitava Saha then decided to found Xpressbees. He has been in sales and operations for more than 17 years.

SUPAM MAHESHWARI:

In 2010, Supam launched FirstCry.com, his first business. He graduated from the IIM Ahmedabad and completed his B.Tech. at the Delhi College of Engineering. From 2000 to 2009, Supam co-founded and served as CEO of Brainvisa Technologies, which he later sold with Amitava Saha. Maheshwari is currently recognized as a member of Xpressbees’ founding team.

FUNDING AND INVESTORS:

Over nine rounds of funding, the company raised $577.6 million with the assistance of the Xpressbees funding rounds. The Alibaba Group invested $10 million in the company on January 3, 2020. The company eventually raised two further rounds of funding over the following two years, including the $300 million round that it received on February 9, 2022, and the $110 million Series E round that was led by Investcorp, Norwest, and Gaja Capital. Through its Series F funding round, the company raised $300 million, making it the eighth Indian unicorn in 2022.

GROWTH AND REVENUE:

Starting with 50,000 shipments, Xpressbees is now processing more than 3 million shipments daily. According to the most recent financial information obtained during FY21, the company’s revenue surpassed the Rs 1000 crore threshold.

The company’s business operations expanded by 99.7% in the fiscal year 2019, totaling INR 540.95 crore, compared to INR 270.83 crore in the previous fiscal year. In comparison to the INR 757.2 crore in revenue that it managed to generate during FY20, Xpressbees was able to scale by 32.7 percent in FY21, bringing in INR 1004.8 crore from operations.
