Does your Dress invite a Rapist?

Before you read this Article I want to tell you a few things.

1. The intention of this Article is not to hurt the feelings, Ego or Sentiments of any individual.

2. These are just thoughts if put into practise tomorrow our own daughters, sisters, mothers, wives can live safely in the society.

3. Always remember – “Charity begins at home”.

Every Other day we read in the newspapers about the increasing crime against women. Various factors are been considered and discussed on why there is increase in offenses against women around the world. Sometimes reading the stories I start wondering if we are moving towards a development or are we moving towards making ourselves more barbaric.

Whenever, there is an offence against a women reported, discussions and debate start on her chastity, dressing sense, her fundamental freedom to roam around or speak in this democratic country along with her male counter parts., but nobody dares to touch the main point. WE are a country which talks of the glorious Sanskars and how Sanskari we are, but are these Sanskars to be followed only by our Women? Don’t the men have any Sanskars to be followed or preserved, if men can take the burden to provide the basics to a family why don’t take a little bit of more responsibility to respect women. For Example:

Sexual needs are a natural phenomenon, which both men and women have in them and it is a scientifically proven fact. It is a general observation or statement made by various noted and famous people that short clothes invite rape. If that is the fact, they why don’t we hear cases of rape of men ? Men openly rome around wearing short clothes, half clothes and sometimes no clothes also. Women are taught to turn their face around when they see a half-naked man in public, whereas not all men would turn around their faces without before checking out that woman and mentally outraging her modesty. And Moral police please do explain why women in burkha, elderly women wearing fully modest clothes and a 1 month old baby get raped. Did their dressing sense provoke the rapist here?

Coming to the next point Ego clashes, frustration and incapability of a wife to satisfy her husband leads to Marital – Rape, Extra Marital Affairs, Domestic Violence and these women deserve to be punished by their husbands and in-laws and the society at large. Really !! In this case what should the women do whose husbands do nothing and sit around all day just commenting on various aspects of life. What should a wife do, when she’s working at home and office and again at home and all she gets at home is taunts and beatings because the salt in the curry was more !!!

We are the biggest hypocrites. WE kill female child and expect worship Goddess Lakshmi and Durga to be always with us. We kill the mother (Physically and Emotionally) just because she has given birth to a daughter. Why isn’t a son in any family starved or harassed because scientifically it is because of him that the gender of the child is decided.

So finally summing up, if we have all the patience in the world to control our urges and needs. I feel even our sons and all the men are strong enough to control all their urges and feelings. As men have strong shoulders to carry the burden and pride of the family, Let him also take up a small load of the real sanskars and be a real sanskari. Always remember, Don’t take the length of her skirt or the depth of her blouse as an invitation to sex.
