Cinema has often been the integral part of our entertainment. From those weekend Movies on DD National and DD Metro, to everyday movies on Zee Cinema and Amazon App. We have come a long way.
The Satellite Boom bought Niche Channels and showing movies on Television became one of the best ways to earn revenue for a channel. Superhit movies were played repetatively on the channels because they got the maximum audience, which meant maximum revenue.
Earlier, the channels would play decade old movies but then later on, they started playing most recent movies. Movies, which would be released within a month, would be played on the television channels. I guess Salman Khan movies earned more revenue from showing his movies repetedly on Television, than he earned by releasing the same in the theater.
The most important part of the movie business today is Satellite Rights. That is the reason why a lot of Male Actors along with their fees ask for a share in the profit for movies. Satellite Rights are the new source of Revenue for a lot of Producers.
Youtube and other OTT Platforms definately changed the way we saw the movies, with no commerical breaks. We also have some real good quality of movies, which these platforms showcase.
So these were my memories with the movies on the Television.
