Ageing gracefully……

The moment you put on a Television channel, the at least 2 of the 5 ads would be related to cosmetic products for both men and women, to look young and beautiful. As a child, I was always fascinated by watching the ads on the television because they were colorful, displayed new products and created that happy family environment. Slowly and steadily, as I grew up and started understanding these advertisements, a lot had changed with time.

The basic things that these advertisements sold were not the products, but insecurities of people, which forced them in buying the products of the manufacturers. Post 1994 to be precise, there was a tremendous rise in cosmetic products sold in India. At a point of time, when cosmetic products were rarely found or you had to ask your friend or relative coming from abroad to bring them, now they were being sold at every nook and corner.

The advertisements and the wrong casting of actors in daily soaps, taught us that it is a crime to be fat post motherhood, that it is important to look perfect, when you wake up, when you go to sleep. Seeing your first grey hair or wrinkles under your eyes, was something that makes you out of the league, your husband will not love you, your children would be ashamed of you. So before you lost all the relations in your life, it was important to fix those relationship problems, with the Cosmetics.

Really !!!! You expect me to buy that !!!

Unfortunately, a lot of educated and uneducated people in our Country still believe that.

Ageing is a natural process and cannot be tampered with. For some strange reason, we forgot that we age gracefully. We do not age in a reverse order. No amount of Facials or Night Creams or Face Packs are going to bring back your better days unless you learn to accept yourself. If you are going to find flaws in your body and personality, then obviously, somebody is going to encourage the same, play around your insecurity and earn millions out of the same.

Yes, we have tons of celebrities, who are undergoing the knife everyday and have the perfect body and perfect skin. How many of them do really have their husbands with them or lead a happy perfect life ? I am not here to judge you or judge them, but just see a few of the pictures below. They are perfect celebrities, with perfect bodies and perfect skin, yet they have broken homes and relationship problems just like us.

So Ladies and Gentlemen, do not fall victims to the Companies, who are making the best by playing with your insecurities. It is your hard work, goodwill, nature and talent that will help you survive in the long run. There is no harm in being presentable and pampering yourself, but being obsessed will cause a huge harm to your self confidence and do injustice to your own talent.

It is ok to pamper yourself monthly with a facial, but spending half your salary on looking good instead of spending time with your family, is not done. If you still don’t believe me, then watch this image here under. If cosmetic surgeries and cleavage meant success, then please note the person here under would have been the most successful.

P.S. This blog is not only for women but also for men.
